To better serve the community, the Berne Public Library is changing its hours of operation, effective Monday, August 3, 2015.

The new hours will be:

Monday: 10:00 a.m-8:00 p.m.

Tuesday: 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Wednesday: 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Thursday: 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Friday: 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Saturday: 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Closed Sunday

The Heritage Room will also have new hours effective Monday, August 3, 2015:

Monday: 12:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

Tuesday-Friday: 12:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.

Saturday: 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Morning appointments may be requested as needed.  


September Book Clubs

Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder

Thursdays at 4:00 p.m., September 3rd - October 8th

- Grades K-3 and accompanying adult

- Snacks, creative projects, and fun discussion

Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan

Mondays at 4:00 p.m., September 14th through October 5th

- Boys and girls in grades 4 & 5

- Great snacks each week!

Registration is necessary for both groups.  Call 589-2809 or stop by the Children's Department.  The Adams County Community Foundation is providing a book for each child to keep.


Fall Story Times

September 14 through November 20

Preschool (ages 3 and up): Mondays or Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m.

Wee Read (ages 18-36 months): Mondays or Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m.

Infants (ages birth to 18 mo.): Fridays at 10:30 a.m.

Registration is necessary for all programs.                                         Call 589-2809 or stop by the library to register your child. 


Recipe Club

Monday, August 24, 2015 at 6:30 p.m.

Make and bring the recipe of your choice from Satisfying Salads cookbook.

Fun evening tasting salads and gathering recipes. 

Sign up by Friday, August 21st. 

The food in this program will not be made in professional kitchens but rather in a noncommercial environment.  Participants are responsible for purchasing their own ingredients and for making a product according to accepted food safety standards.  


Preschool Play Mornings

Mondays from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

July 20th - August 31st

Informal gathering of preschoolers and their parents.  Toys and a simple activity will be provided.  Regular structured story times will resume in September.  


Monday, August 3, 2015 - 6:30-7:30 p.m.

- Fun games with prizes, snacks, and stories

- Wear your PJ's and bring a flashlight

- Bring your favorite stuffed animal if you'd like

- Ages 10 and under

              SYNC Audiobook Downloads

Two complete audiobook downloads are given away each week to listeners ages 13+. 

Listen to a Young Adult title paired thematically with a Classic or Required Summer Reading title every week while SYNC is in session this summer.

Any two-week item can now be checked out for three weeks and can only be renewed one time for an additional three weeks. 

New books and DVDs will still check out for one week and are non-renewable.
